Safety Razor Performance Metrics

From the beginning of this project we recognized that the main performance drivers of any Safety Razor lie in the unique metrics around where the razor, the blade edge, and your skin make simultaneous contact. So our mission with the DE5 was to optimize these features for both comfort and performance.

Since there already exists a rich history of safety razor design from over the last 120 years, it made the most sense to begin this process with testing of all the most successful variations. So that’s exactly what we did.

Safety Razor Design Iterations

Over the course of several years we shaved with just about every major design iteration of the safety razor that we could get our hands on - plus some not so major. Along the way certain key features in determining performance, comfort, and general joy of use eventually begin to become apparent.

It was these valuable insights that have now culminated in the design of our Fine® DE5 Safety Razor. It represents the amalgamation of everything we learned, carefully crafted into an affordable package that we think you’re going to love.
